While you were (not) sleeping

I think our little turkey is starting to teethe!!  I'm not entirely sure as this is obviously our first go-round with this but I'm thinking he is.  I can't really feel any nubbins in his mouth but he's been a little fussy lately which is not usually like him.  He's also got a little rash on the side of his cheek and I'm thinking it's raw from drool.  Poor little sweetie!

Anyway, we've been transitioning into him only taking two naps instead of three a day and it's messing with his feeding schedule.  So to make sure he's getting enough feedings and calorie intake, I've been feeding him before I put him down for his afternoon nap.  Since we never do that, I think he thought that after he ate today, that meant he should play for another hour and a half!!

I couldn't see him very well on the video monitor so I go in there and here's what I find, him just laid back with his hands behind his head just relaxin'!  Foot up on the opposite end of the bed, turned sideways!

And of course, it would be a day that I was really, really wanting to take a nap myself!!!!  He just smiled at me all sneaky like!

Oh Maguire, you are a mess!!  What am I going to do with you??!!!!!!

Family Favorite

A little impromptu photo sesh with my favorite little guy this morning!!

Yes, he is the favorite!!!  Ha ha!!!

Look how much this turkey has grown!!!  I'll post more 6 month pics later but I just can't get over how much he has grown!  He now weighs 14 pounds, 6 ounces!  Up 3 pounds in 2 months!!!

Such a happy, good-natured little fellow.

I could just eat him up all day....

Don't worry, I do!!  Have a Happy Tuesday!!!

A photo collage tutorial and some randomness!

So I had a little time today so I took advantage and did some much needed picture sorting!  I swear, I could spend a week going through photos on the computer!  I have THOUSANDS of pics and am trying to figure out a really good system that is quick and efficient.  Like most other moms I'm sure, I have put so much pressure on myself to document every single thing about my little sweetie.  It's crazy that he's almost 6 months and I already feel so behind!!  I'm not going to let myself get too upset by this though!  My new mantra is "I cannot do it all!!!"  I'm sticking to it!  Anyway, I've been wanting to figure out how to put picture collages on my blog, because as it is right now, it is just too time consuming to post a bunch of pictures and therefore I'm not posting as often as I would like.

One of the very first blogs I ever started to read on a consistent basis is written by a beautiful girl named Emily Jones.  She has a wonderful heart and always posts fantastic tutorials!!  I started reading her blog before she even had her last baby so to watch her littlest one grow has been pretty neat!!  Anyway, the other day, she posted how to create collages and I decided I had a little time, I was going to try it out!!  I did and it was super easy!  You can find out how to do it here

If I haven't talked about it already, I figured now would be a great time to do so!  Maguire has been rolling all over the place over the past couple of weeks!  It is so fun to watch him reach this milestone but with all this growth and change of course I get a little sad thinking how quickly he is growing up!  His little personality is just developing like crazy and I feel like I am falling more and more in love (or obsessed???) with him each and every day!!!  I don't even know how that could be possible but it's totally happening to me!

We also recently had some visitors to Kansas City (that's what my nieces and nephews always say, is Aunt Kinzie lives in Kansas City)!!!  My sisters and their kids came to visit and we had an awesome time just hanging out and relaxing!  Too bad I had to go to work 2 out of the 3 days they were here, but hey, we did get some good quality time out of it!  I'm just ready for them to come back again now!!!

We also got to help my best friend, Taran, celebrate her birthday recently!  Happy birthday, Straight Beauty!!!

So there you have it, a quick recap and some fun photos!  I hope you enjoy my mad new photo collage skillz!!

Fun on the Fourth!!!

What a difference a year or two makes!  Seriously, life has changed for us dramatically with the addition of our precious one in the family!  It's all good of course but just kind of funny to think about!  The 4th of July has always been a big deal around our house!!  Here's a prime example of how we used to spend our 4th's!!!

Hey, I'm just trying to keep it real here!

And then here we are now....our sweet little family!

Just a little recap of our awesome weekend...We started the festivities by travelling down to SEK to attend Michael's "Adams Family Reunion!"  I am so truly blessed to have married into such a large wonderful family!  I have never met such sweet, generous, genuine people in my life!  We even dressed up Maguire & Max in matching red, white and blue outfits for the day!  Unfortunately, I don't even have any pictures of the two of them together because when one was sleeping, the other would be eating, or cranking, or whatever....as you can imagine with a 2 and 5 month old!!!  When we did catch a few quick pics I didn't even want to waste the precious few moments by having Michael grab my camera!  So I'll have to hit Rebecca up for those!  As it was, I think Max might have been a little fussy at the moment and about a minute after I took Maguire's bib off of him for the pic, he massively puked down the side of himself, down the side of my shorts and puddled onto their leather (thank God!) couch!  Beautiful, just beautiful.  But other than being a little pukey (which I was totally expecting considering I knew he would be passed around) Maguire was a peach all day!!!

Michael, Rebecca, and Little Jimmy (Max)

On Sunday, Michael smoked some meat with the boys during the day, while I did a little shopping and relaxing!  Later that evening we went to our good friends, the Bradstreet's, house to celebrate with tons of food and drink!  It was really the first time we were all back together again since having our wee ones.  And let me tell you about controlled chaos!  Bedtime was interesting!  There were at least 4, maybe 5, pack and plays upstairs!  All the babies were great though and it was so nice to be with all of our friends again!

My man all decked out in his red/white and blue!  And darn it, his Sperry's were still a little big on him!  I didn't care, he was going to wear them regardless!!!

Hi there, Bright Eyes!  (I HATE BIBS!!)

This picture is darling but even better would have been about 15 seconds later when Maguire puked on Michael's mouth and down his entire front and onto his lap!!!!

Sweet friends...Abby, Cassie, & Erin

Michael had to work on the 4th so Maguire and I went to Mom's to hang out and swim at the pool.  Maguire is slowly getting better in the pool.  I really think he just doesn't like the cold water at all so now that it's warmed up a bit, he seems to like it more!  Grandpa even got a matching Arabian hat!!  Bahahaha!!!  We finished off the night with a great view of the Olathe fireworks and homemade ice cream!  Yum!  It was the perfect ending to an awesome weekend!

Even though we might not be partying it up like we used to on the 4th anymore, I'd take this kind of celebrating any day!!  Great family, friends, food, relaxing, spending time with my hubby and little doodles...and best of all, no hangover!!!  Yes, please!!!  Sounds like my kind of 4th of July!

Life is a Gift

Of course I'm wayyyy behind on blogging but I wanted to be sure and post pictures detailing my beautiful friend, Laura's, baby shower I threw in the beginning of June.  As you may remember, our awesome friends, Jeff and Laura, moved to Texas a couple of months ago:(  We have been missing them terribly but luckily have got to see them a couple of times since they've gone!  We had the absolute pleasure of having her stay with us for 4 nights recently!!!  It was so wonderful having her back.  And I have to be honest, she was a huge help around the house while she was here!  Trust me, I certainly didn't expect her to do as much as she did, but those of you that know Laura, know that she is definitely not the type to sit around!!!!  The biggest thing she did for me was to watch Maguire so I could run all of those last-minute errands before the party!!!

Please ignore the orangey pictures!  The lighting in our basement is pretty terrible for pictures but perfect for setting a relaxed mood!!  I could have changed the white balance in photoshop but that probably would have meant that I wouldn't end up blogging about this party!!!  Thanks, Steph, for taking pics for me so I could run around and entertain!  The theme was "Life is a Gift" and I decorated with wrapped packages.  Laura does not love all the traditional pinks so I went with naturals, green, lavendar, and eggplant colors.  I had made some tissue poms to hang over the cake table as well but didn't get them put up unfortunately!  It's crazy what a difference it makes having a baby around when you're trying to party plan!  Overall though, I was very pleased with how it turned out!!
Food table, before everything was set out

Oops, crooked candle!  And darn it, I didn't get a good picture of my homemade topiary that I was soooo proud of!!!

"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living,
My baby you'll be"
After looking at my chalkboard sign after the fact, of course I notice the crooked handwriting!!!  LOL!

Adorable cake by The Cake Chick. Strawberry Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Filling and Lemon Cake with Raspberry Filling!  Delicious!

Perfectly matching Sixlets for the wonderful guests!!  Favor tags (and the invitations) by my girl KJ

Laura and her good friend, Lindsey
Even this guy got in on the fun!

Maguire and his ladies

I couldn't be happier for Jeff & Laura!  Having a baby was THE most amazing thing that Michael and I have ever done and I just cannot wait for our friends to experience it as well!  I love you, Laura, and already love your little sweetie so much!  Can't wait to meet her!!!

Date Night!!

Michael and I celebrated our 8th anniversary this past week!  Mom watched Maguire and we went out to dinner at Westchase Grille.  This was our first time eating at that restaurant and we really liked it!  They had live music and the food was delicious!  We would definitely go back again!

I can hardly believe it's been 8 years though!  And we've been together for a little over 10!  Seriously, it has been the best 10 years ever!  We, like all normal couples, have of course had our ups and downs, but we are closer now than ever!  Michael is truly my absolute best friend.  Having a baby with him was by far the best thing I have ever done in my life.  He is so patient with me, he keeps me grounded and sane, he supports me in everything I have ever wanted to do, and he is such an amazing daddy to our baby!  I cannot imagine navigating through this life without him.  God truly blessed me when he gave me Michael!  I am so excited for the endless possibilities of what lies ahead for our marriage and our family!  I love you, Pookers!!!

Million Dollar Decorators

So I just watched the first "Million Dollar Decorators" on Bravo today!  I absolutely loved it!  I really liked all of the designers but my 2 faves for that episode were Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Mary McDonald!  I can't wait to see all the homes that they decorate!  I would kill to have that kind of money to decorate with!  Seriously though, I've been in a decorating kind of mode around my house lately!  Usually, I just get real irritated with the way everything is decorated, but then I clean my house and radically, I like it again!  Imagine that!!  Anyway, I'm changing a few things up on the homefront and might post some pics soon if I ever get a room completed (or find the time to blog in between playing with and taking care of my kiddo and my messy house!!!).  So check out this new show on Bravo!  I almost think I'll like it as much as the Real Housewives!!!
